VAN WERT (August 19, 2022) The Van Wert County General Health District is seeking a full-time Health Commissioner. This employee plans, directs, manages, and oversees the activities and operations of the Health District; enforces laws and regulations within the jurisdiction of the Health District and its programs; as well as assesses organizational and structural needs of the agency.
The Health Commissioner will provide leadership for personnel in determining need, feasibility, planning and programming for all existing and proposed programs and services of the Health District.
The Health Commissioner shall be responsible and accountable to the Board of Health. They will provide accurate and timely information on the functions of the department and help to prepare the annual budget for the Health District.
The Health Commissioner will also develop and foster working relationships with local agencies, private providers, and community organizations.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in public health or an equivalent master’s degree in a related health field, or a licensed physician, licensed dentist, licensed veterinarian, licensed podiatrist, licensed chiropractor.
