The Nursing Division at the Van Wert County General Health District is involved in many various programs and areas of service. We provide childhood and adult immunizations and administer tuberculin skin tests. Our nurses assist with school health screenings in all of the Van Wert County Schools.

The Children with Medical Handicaps Program, which is a state funded program by the Ohio Department of Health, is administrated by our local health department. In addition, our Nursing Division is responsible for the investigation of infectious diseases and Emergency Preparedness Planning.

If you need to report a public health emergency or Class A reportable disease after hours, please contact the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Department at 419-238-3866 and they will contact the health department personnel on call. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please dial 911. If you need to report a public health risk, problem, environmental hazard, or reportable infectious disease, please call 419-238-0808 and follow the prompts to leave a message for the appropriate person.
